When I began with
Muse It Up Publishing, I hadn't a clue about the publishing world. March 29, 2010...That's when I got my very first contract for a book that would release on December 1, 2010 and take 5th place in under four weeks when the READERS voted in the 2010 Preditors and Editors Reader's poll.
My jaw hit the ground! An award in under a total of five weeks! WOW!
We're entering our FIFTH year...and My God have I learned a lot.
I've learned the truth about covers and their power.
All day today I sat and scanned the entire catalog of books available via the MIU bookstores.
So to start MY tribute to what is MIU...(we OFFICIALLY)...opened on October 1, 2010 with a bang I want to praise the CA's.
Four years, and for me, almost twenty published books later, we're about to celebrate the start of another year of surprises and damned good writing by damned good authors, with damned good covers to go with them by damned good Cover Artists.
It's been a very difficult few years of late for me. Most recently I've had to survive several operations on my spine.
Now I can still walk, most of the time...and I can still stand, often without wobbling, and I can sit with minimal pain shooting through me...I can still write, and cheer on my fellow authors...but most importantly I continue to grow in knowing what makes the best as an author, reader, and watcher of what is happening in the publishing world.

When I began I was thrilled to GET my first cover...It proved to me I'd ARRIVED afters years of writing my heart out IN the metaphorical closet!
Now I know more...for instance I know the best covers are those that make you stop and want to check out the teeny picture of the cover that caught your eye despite it being so small it really HAS to be powerful for you to even notice much about it.
It takes GREAT CA's to put that kind of power and so much emotion into thumbnails.
Not everybody CAN do it, but Muse has some of the BEST CA's in the world.
Once I go into the book's link, I want the cover to still be powerful enough to make me want to learn about the story...and yes...buy it.
Good covers must speak to the world and make them want to check us, the authors out.
For this, my first pre-anniversary tribute to the OUT-OF-THIS-World COVERS BY THE MOST GIFTED, CA's in the business...and because of the events I outlined to explain why these past few years have been difficult
